my buddy just got a 425 magnum the bike is 9 years ould and only has 900 miles on it.so we went to look at it and the guy said it had been setting all winter and it need fresh gas ,so we done all that stuff,plug,gas,filter but it still has a dead spot at low idle oh we also took the bowl off the carb seem to be clean so what should he try next?

That carb needs a thorough cleaning. Remove all jets, spray good quality carb cleaner (Honda carb. cleaner is the best I've used) in every jet and air passage in the carb. Just don't get any on the rubber parts (o-rings, diaphragm for slide (if a CV carb), etc..), or they'll "grow".
More than likely, it's just the pilot jet that needs to be cleaned (clogs 1st because it's the smallest). But, while you're in there, you might as well clean EVERYTHING in there---sucks doing it twice!! [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] |

I would go with what smitty said. If the gas say for a long time, it will plug up all kinds of stuff after it gels....I would also flush the gas tank, flush the gas lines, check the vent lines, etc...
