Got2Ride -- a few people here made a good point, don't feel like you have to get the top of the line to do what you want to do. The Sportsman's are all the same frame (well almost, the twins share a frame and the 4+500 share an almost identical one due to physical engine size). So the 400, say, has almost the same ground clearance as the 800, and I can guarantee that it would get anywhere you can get an 800. The 500HO is a great compromise between power and convenience, with great gas mileage and a pull start backup. If speed is not an issue, and you aim mostly for off-trail riding, than a smaller-engined Sportsman (same size quad, though) might be a better choice. I've pulled some heavy loads with my 400 and it never complained, only problem is braking, which would also be an issue on the 800 (very similar weights).

You could save a lot of money with a 500, which could be spent on necessities like bumpers, winch, etc. Also the improved gas mileage and pull start may appeal to you.

It sounds like the 500 would be your best choice.
It RUNS with the BIG BOY'S but you get aonther 25 + miles to the tank of gas.

and to add to the 500's cabeability, i hate to say it, because im not far off in displacement, but the 500 will stomp a SP700 in a drag race suprisingly

I wish, they are backordered. Powercommander must be having issues with them. They aren't available yet however the site says they are.

Dennis Kirk has been saying EXPECTED SOON for ages...

Your from Jersey and you weekend in Oseola, so you'll be up once a week at best and you want to plow with a quad? You better get a local plow contract or you'll have 4 feet of snow to try and push around.

Also around the Tug Hill area there are many Polaris dealers that service quads, just a thought for the convienence factor.

If your new to the area shoot me a PM and maybe we can hook up for a ride.

Check out the Watercross events at Flatrock Inn, you can ride your quad right up there.

Also Trails End has a mud bog race.

later.

Well I have been really shopping around lately, found some bad news I didn't want to hear. We had a rally on the weekend, so there were tones of ATV's, it was about 220 miles, so it was a good one. I didn't get to go but my buddy was telling me that out of our group there were 4 polaris's and 3 overheated, guys were saying because of the sloppy mud, and the LOW rads on the Sportsman's, they were overheating and were having to stop. Polaris was the only machines overheating. I can kind of see why also, why are the rads so low to the ground. I've seen it first hand with a buddie's 500 HO, it was sad, we had to keep stopping to let the bike cool, tried to clean it by hand but wouldn't help.
I do go through swamps, so now I'm a little upset as I really want the 800 but don't want to be laughed at when it overheats. I've seen grizzly's and Honda's go through the same spots and never overheat as there rads are high up. I've seen one CAT 650 overheat but it was due to days of mud riding and buildup.
Can anyone comment on this, I even noticed on Hightlifter's Website they have a set up where you can put the rad on the racks to stop this, looks really dumb though.
Will the 800 overheat even though it has a bigger rad and hose set up, from what I hear.
Thanks
