04 Sp600 Caught on fire.
#1
Got my wheeler back yesterday. Headed down an old railroad bed and came up on two teens that looked like they were going to pass out from shock. They were on the side of the trail with an 04 600 that they had just smothered a fire out on. It looked like the head gasket may have let go and puked oil out onto the header pipe which caught fire. The other kid was on a new Blaster so he could'nt tow him. I towed him out to the road about two miles back. I was on my first ride after the repairs and having doubts about weather or not something else would go wrong with mine. Seeing this did'nt help. Takes all the fun out of it. Flew down the same rocky trails that left me with three flats on the pol. alum. rims. With the same tires on steel=no flats.

My friend just purchased an 04 SP600. Hasnt caught on fire yet hope it doesnt but we did snap 2 winch cables trying to pull him out of a mudhole. They should have never switched over to those pol. alum. rims. Steel is the way to go unless you like buying new tires.

i honestly dont see hwat all the fuss is about with the new rims, ive had 400 hard earned miles on my 800 and theres not even a crease mark on my tires around the rims, and ive never had a flat

Thats great that your rims are holding up good but come up to Maine and fly down some rocky trails and you will see what the fuss is about. I have nearly 4000 miles on my 335 and still have the original steel rims on there. They are a little dinged up but they are still holding up good. If i had the pol. alum. rims I woulda thrashed them and went through alot more tires a long time ago they may look better but there just not as durable.
