yeah, powerstrokes are so weak, i watch one pull a broken down semi with a loaded trailer around the parking lot at work.. if thats not enough power for you, i'd like to know what the hell you plan on pulling.
I'd be more than happy to hook up to that Ford and semi and pull 'em wherever you like!!!

myt dad's v-10 got 13 mpg no matter if he was pulling or not then he put a k&n airfilter system in it and now gets 16 so well for cranking out like 360 horsepower and the tranny set for reving higher rpm's before shifting for towing purposes is this bad gas mileage? i think not and ford keeps impressing me year after year within the last 2 years 4 of my buddies went from other brands to ford and none went from ford to the other side. BUILT FORD TOUGH!!!

Hmmmm, first off I never said powerstrokes are weak..... Now having said that the facts are---- The Cummins 5.9 inline 6 puts out more HP and torque than the (7.3 or the new 6.0 powerstroke)...
I don't know what your getting so uptight for, I didn't build em..... Wish I did though.....

Very True! I dont thinks its possible to get 6mpg with the v10. I get around 12 unloaded and about 8-9 when towing.

And I hear alot of people saying that the powerstroke is weak and yes i agree it has 30 less tourque than the cummings, but the trans has alot to do also. I read a test a pickuptruck.com that compared the 1/4 mile time of all the deisels while towing identical trails that weighed 13,400lbs. They said the dodge was the fastest off the start and the ford the slowest at the start. But at the end of the 1/4 mile the Ford was in the lead by a good 20ft. So yes the engine may be "weak" but the trans makes up for it. For those of you that want to read the article yourselves heres the link Ford v Dodge .The article is below the picture of the two trucks.

Yeah, the trannies in the dodges aren't crap, they hold up fine. But they lose a lot of power between the engine and the wheels. The tranny on our ram shifts smoothly, but slowly. Like on an uphill, you hit the gas and it downshifts nicely. Makes for a nice ride.

But on our suburban, the tranny shifts quickly and firmly. This makes a more uncomfortable ride, but feels more responsive. If you gas it on the suburban, it downshifts hard and you head snaps back, not necessarily from the power but from the speed of the shift.

Because of this, or 5.3 suburban feels a lot faster than our hemi ram (although the ram is AWD, that slows it a lot too.)

My buddies 454 4x4 suburban gets 13 mpg pulling a 5000lb trailer and 15 mph empty always and consistantly. Beats by 350 suburban at 8 mpg pulling the same trailer but not hwy. I get 17.5 hwy.
