Has anyone noticed the 01 ho's are using lighter fly weights? My 00 is just a slug!! It does not rev, bottom end power is ok, but the top end is poor. I'm not keen on bumping my clutch engagement via a stiffer primary spring ie white or green.I simply want the thing to be able to build some rpm quickly; currently the slug does not. Has anyone tried lighter weights in the primary?

There was a bulletin out a few months ago about 500's being "lazy" on the top end. It was suggested to install a richer jet. I am assuming it is for machines at low altitudes although it didn't specify. The later model "00"s were shipped with a 162.5 jet installed. They did't run well at our altitude and all had to be lean down.

My 2000 Sp has 48 gram weights and a white spring, it has a little kick, but runs great. My new HO has 46 gram weights, revs better, has the stock blue spring. I think maybe just the lighter weights is the way to go. Here at 4300ft.
lighter weights is a must, but I think the dealers are being too shy with these weights. I've taken some of these back twice for lighter weights, it always gets better. But the 46ers are the BOMB!!

The high altitude weights for the HO are 44 grams. Part number 5630709. Put them in mine but can't tell much difference just running around the shop. Will know more whe we head to the mountains.

How lean have you guys been going? I just dropped down to a 155-fuel economy improved,performance didn't. These things are such a pain to jet, the less I do the better. We typically ride @ 4000' ft and up, I'm sure I can lean down further, but I think there will be performance to be had in some clutching adjustments.

Try taking the excess slack out of the throttle cable. It made a huge differnce on my bike, and many others have boticed similar results. It made my top end go from 52 to 60-62. It will also ride a wheely with a winch on the front. (While in low)

I would not mess with the clutches. It seems if you gain somewhere, you lose somewhere else.

Greg, are you able to get the front off the ground in high without the winch? I'm pulling the wheels up in high but i don't have a winch. I remember the 1st time I got it up there, it scared me and my wife, she ran back into the house and my daughter ran out yelling something about killing myself. lol

Before I installed the winch, it would do it in High or low. It will still pull the wheels up in high with the winch, but it takes effort and does not come up as high.
