Default FREE PLAY ON AXLE HUBS ON SPORTMEN

I noticed a little play in my rear hubs yesterday. I can wiggle my back tires a little. It is in the hub itself where the axle goes through the bearing.I was wondering if it is normal or something is worn and if so what is worn. I have a 05 SP700 with 500 miles on it

I noticed that after my friends quad blew a hub and checked mine and one day I blew a hub also. When I replaced it I made sure I lubed the grooves on the axle and hub, also I do this with my yearly maintenance check. Haven't had problems since then.

Both my 4.5 500's had a lot of play in the rear hubs also. When I removed the hub off one of them the bearings kinda fell out. So I installed new bearings on both them and all the play disappeared. There is not supposed to be any play in the wheels at all. Maybe just a little. Depends on how much you are in mud and water. Those kill bearings. One thing. The stock bearings are about 50 bucks each. I found some All ***** Racing Bearings and I got them for 50 buck for a set of two. The part number for them is 25-1150. The only thing with them is that they didn't say that they fit my atv on the package, but they fit perfect. Same dimensions as stock.

I believe that someone else also found very cheap replacement bearings, designed to fit something like a 95 mazda or something like that. I'll have to search.

Ah found it here: http://forums.atvconnection.com/mess...keyword2=cheap .

Apparently they can be had for around 7 bucks a piece, and are the same size as a 1990 Mercury Topaz, according to 2002Sportsman400.

I thought he was talking about the hubs and not the axle bearings. I was talking about the hubs on the axle splines.
Just wanted to clarify that.

You guys have outer wheel bearings? I didn't know that as I have a solid rear axle and would have thought the newer machines would only have bearings in the tranfer case or axle, not in the wheel hubs. Guess the newer one are kind of setup like my front end matbe???
