I did it

Without tearing into the engine, your options are changing the sprockets and doing more clutch work (like EPI clutch kit).

Sprockets are relatively cheap. There are some pretty expensives ones out there, but I found mine by searching different places and checking the closeout section. Also got a sprocket from sledpartsguy on ebay. Got a good deal from him too. If you go with the clutch kit, you may have enough left over to change the sprocket too. Just be sure to hang on. Boring out the jug will do little to nothing for power. You have to do more motor work if you want more power. You already did the basics. If you want super quick throttle response then lighten the flywheel. If you want tons more power and quicker performance then you need a reed conversion with the lightened flywheel. They also have stroker motors for these. They can get pretty wicked. It all depends on how much cash you want to put in it. A gear change will do 1 of 2 things for you. You can go smaller and get better top speeds and lose bottom end or go bigger and gain bottom end but lose top speed. You have to find the happy medium. Also the stage 1 kit does not include a whole clutch kit. The clutches can be tuned alot better than just changing the primary spring. Dont bore it out unless you have to rebuild. The more you bore, the less life is left in the 250.
