Default 800efi sputtering?

Here is what happened i was running very low on fuel and i moved my 800 probaly 3 or 4 times out of my way in my shed just starting it for a very short time. I went out today and decided i better put some fuel in it because i knew it was very low maby a cup or so . I added maby half gallon of fuel i had in a plastic gas can. It was maby 4 weeks old so then i fired it up and it began running like it had some water in it or something . It had half the power and sputtered but it did run just running like it was missing? So i removed the plugs and they were wet and dark. I cleaned them up and put them back in . Then i filled up the tank with brand new gas and fired it up it ran funny again for half a minute and then got better so i took it for a ride and it got better after about 1-2 minutes it now runs like new . I am thinking i ran it so low that i got some junk of the bottom of the tank maby and it got caught up and then broke its way through ?any ides what this might have been?

You probably fouled a plug from the short run times when moving it around, the fuel/air mix is real rich on cold starts so repeating that without getting the plugs hot enough to burn off the fuel deposits (black) will foul them. It wouldn't hurt to add a little dry gas to the fuel just in case some moisure got in the tank also.....

Another thing to remember is it's not good on the fuel pump to run that low/or out of gas, the fuel keeps the pump cool and keeps the plastic pump impeller from wear/damage/meltdown.....

a couple of things come to mind....either you had crap or water in your original tank or in the gas that you added...or you added bad gas, or the gas can had crap in the bottom of it...

since you put in new gas, the gas in the lines burnt up and then got the good gas and it started running good again....

you may want to change your fuel filter for peace of mind....the 800 has quick disconnects on the filter
