Hey, 250ccer's

Are there any 250cc 2-stroke fans out there that want to discuss the topic of "engine characteristices, performance, modifications, and what-not"? I just recently purchased a mint 2001 xplorer 250 and am looking for some fans to chat with, thanks.

Hey, 250ccer's

I had a 42hp 250 trailblazer and there are some other pretty bad 250's here. I can tell you anything about the 250.

Hey, 250ccer's

Hey, thanks, 2Many and Jeff,

Like I said, mine is bone stock and basically brand new. I like the power it has, but I will want to go more with it. I have so many questions. The bike I want is what I have basically, sort of... I could care less at this point about top speed. What I want is low end punch, as soon as you gas it growl. It fairs ok now, but it seems like it has been built not to have any low end. I was thinking dual stage reeds with cage mod, but will that help?

Hey, 250ccer's

Most of the hop ups we have done on Trailblazers wont help your 4x4 . The best shot for a 4x4 is a good trail port job and a aaen Torquer pipe with a Heelclicker clutch kit.You go with the high hp pipes and you get into the need for high engaging clutching and with a 4x4 that can get you in trouble(I found that out the hard way with a 400 2stroke Sportsman) You could also go with a 34 or 35 mm carb and get more lowend power.

Hey, 250ccer's

Thanks,

When you talk porting, could you please tell me what it does.

Hey, 250ccer's

For the low end what ftwflh said and also the gear change helped my low end alot did not take to much top speed; my rear sprocket is off a 2003 trail boss few more teeth on it.
porting opens up the motor for better flow of fuel and exhaust not something you want to do yourself one slip with the grinder and your cyl. is toast;unless you are good with die grinder and have the time it's kinda fun though I did mine.
there is a guy on the forums Bubba297 pm him send him you cyl he is the man for porting Rick Ritter RcR can do it to I think. Check with rick on some of the parts ftwflh metioned his customer support is the best he'll help you get it right where you want it.
One more thing don't know your budget but porting; pipes and reed conversons can get spendy..
best bang for the buck IMO #1 clutch kit #2 grearing if low end is what you want. #3 mill the head about 15-20 thousands this raises the compression.
compression is a big low end helper first thing I did on mine and what a diff. send it to rick if you got the time....or you can just have a local machine shop do it. it will help and work but the combustion chamber should be squared up as well rick does this.

Hey, 250ccer's

I have an '02 Xplorer 250 with a few mods. The Polaris 250 does not have reeds so no dual stage reeds or modified reed cages needed. An Aaen pipe and clutch kit with a roller conversion will pep that thing up. Haveing the head milled will give some more bottom end punch. We like ours. It's like a little mountain goat. You got to love having low range on a little 250 quad.

Hey Jeff the with the 4x4s you cant realy chage the gearing because of the 4x4 system is sycned to make it operate correctly. That is why the Scrammy guys cant regear......it will through the timing of when the front end kicks in. Brad.
