4x4 won't disengage

I have a buddy with a 2005 sportsman 700 that his front end will not disengage. He was out riding in some pretty deep snow and after that he was trying to spin around on some ice and noticed his front end, even though the switch is off, the front wheels are still locked in?

Any ideas? Maybe thawing it out?
LEt me know

Sounds like the rollar cage in the diff is bad or broke, armature plate bad, or fluid needs to be changed. Alot of these diffs break when doing donuts, brake torques or playing in mud. It has a plastic rollar cage in the diff that slides to lock into 4x4 and if this breaks or gets jammed it can cause all kinds of problems.

The quad is brand new. Worked fine for most of the day then he started getting into the deep stuff. He turned it on to pull through some nasty deep snow, which I assume packed the front end solid with snow and now he can not get it disengaged. That is how he noticed it was still locked in is when he tried to spin the rear tires and realized the front was still locked in.

That is weird. Let it thaw then try it again. Maybe the fluid just got too thick from the cold. I would call the dealer if it does not work.
