Default New Front Springs for 05 SP700EFI?

Have any of you tried the progressive front spring kit 31-2007 for the front of a 2005 700 sportsman? I found it on their website listed for this application but nowhere else on the net. I have a 2005 800 sportsman and I am also having problems with the front end sag. If it fits the 700 it should fit the 800 also. Correct?

I belive the 700 and 800 have the same front springs. THe MV7 springs have the same base spring pre-load of 85 in/lbs but have a higher upper limit. I belive the stock springs are something like 111 and the MV7 springs are in the 130-140 range. I know Bytor know the exact #s. He may respond here with them.

From what I have read, the stock 700 springs are 75-111. The MV springs are 75-170. A world of difference (for the better).

Hey Madmatt: The install was actually pretty easy. The only special tool I used was spring compressors (got them from Harbor Freight for about $12). It helps to have 2 jacks also, one to jack up the front end and one to hold up the strut assembly. Also, take off the front storage box to make things easier.

Hope to get mine this week. We'll see how long it takes to get them installed.

I didn't know it came off so easy only 4 bolts and 4 torx screws, that opens up the whole front end. Anyway I will ride tommorrow and check it out, seems a lot firmer already just by pushing on the bumper it pops right back up..
Thanks again for the tips,

You must have had those beers before you took offf the box as there are four bolts inside, four torx inside and four torx under the front fenders(2 on each side)> Ha!

A lot of guys are having good luck with the EPI HD springs and thats what I'm going to buy.

Progressive also has a prelaod adjustable ( threaded collar) setup.

Jim,

Unless they've updated the progressive kit does not work on the 05/06 bikes. The Springs are 2 short. Bytor tries the install before going to the MV7 springs. From what I could find they had the widest pre-load range 85-170 in/lbs. Good luck.

Yes the Progressive is for pre-05 sportsmans, not with the longer travel although they do have one for the long travel scrambler which might work.

I'm going with the EPI HD springs on my sp700 and the Works struts on my scr 400.

Jim
