Default 400 sportsman shifting problem

After out on the trails saturday my 2005 sportsman 400 starting shifting funny. I would rev the engine but belt would not grab so i shifted to low and it grabbed a little better but not always we stopped pulled the cover to see if it was the belt and when we pulled the cover the belt didnt have any tension on it so then we tried to watch the clutch engage and it did but still had slack and took a while even in low. Any ideas what could be wrong and how much it may cost to be fixed.

Check the primary clutch spring. It may be broken. If not, check the secondary spring to see if that one is broken. Good time to buy a clutch kit.
