FOR 800 OWNERS ONLY: Performance add-ons, let's hear about 'em!
I want to get an idea of what everyone is doing with their machines, as far as performance goes. What have you done, and DID IT WORK!
Pipes, cams, EFI re-map, springs, weights or just a K & N filter........The machine has been out for a while now, so someone has got to have hands-on experience with at least one of these........ SO LETS HEAR ABOUT IT!! |

I put streamers on my handlebar grips. It's pretty sweet.

when i had mine i put a K&N on, took the airbox lid off and i ran it a few times with no exhaust. great machine.
as far as concerns of all that air movement, there was a large improvement in power, especially sound. though these 800's come from the factory a bit rich, so having an aftermarket exhuast would be perfectly fine without getting a Power Commander. |

I put on the K&N air filter on my 05 800 didn't notice that much difference. was going to chip it , but my brother put one in his 700 & at idle would die, high end was good , but not good enough for the money.

I put the Heelclicker clutch kit in mine, and that made a BIG performance gain. It will pull the front wheels off the ground (in high gear) on dry concrete, and will spin all 4's on the trails. It now has all the power an old guy like me can handle!

I put a box of tissues on mine. That way when I get stuck I can wipe my tears.

Hey Al, where'd ya get the Heelclicker and what'd it run ya?
What do you get with that kit: weights & primary spring? Secondary spring too? Sounds like I may have to try that one... |

Smitty-
Go to atvquadsquad.com and go to the Heelclicker forums. A guy named COB can set you up with a better price than the H/C folks offer. I paid 198.50 last Oct for mine. The H/C kit comes with the weights, screws & washers for the weights, the Polaris white primary spring, a .070" shim for the primary, and instructions. Also comes with an orange primary spring and a silver secondary spring that you won't need. I've been using the stock primary spring , and have had good results. You will need to remove the primary spider to install the shim, so either your Polaris dealer may be able to install that for you. The Polaris clutch tool is nice, if you plan on doing this to your next machine, too. All of this is gone over in great detail at atvquadsquad. The secondary upshifts quicker with the Heelclicker, and gives better acceleration. Don't know if it lost any top-end, cause I'm not that brave yet to run that fast. It will have a little less engine braking at speeds over 40, though. Overall, it was a super improvement for the trail riding I do. |
