The belt seems to engage the secondary at idle. Do I need to use a differant belt? Have about 65 miles on this belt and it shifts hard because of this. Need advice.

What is your idel at now. I had a similar issue with stock belt and parts but my idel was about 1200 and the dealer droped it to 1140 and all is good. Try dropping your idel by 40 or 50 rpms and see if that helps. Made a world if Differance in my bike. I also got out and towed some heavy loads in low. That helped strech the belt a bit I'm sure.

Casual, you don't need a different belt but you might have to change a shim or 2 in your secondary? Check your belt deflection and alignment too.
