Where's the oil go?
Let me just say "this is the stupidist post that I have ever typed", so please forgive me. I have a '06 Sportsman 700 that is right now 300 miles away from it's owner's manual. I am "Overdue" for it's first motor oil change and I hate to say this cause I feel like a wank, but where the hell does the oil go? Does it go in the check plug? or am I missing something, because I cannot see anywhere else for the oil to go.
Once again forgive me, this is my first Polaris and I already feel like a idiot. |

Where's the oil go?
OK so oil goes IN the dipstick hole but where do you drain it?
also is this oil used both for crankshaft and gears as well? |
Where's the oil go?
you use polaris AGL in your gear case
you drain the oil from the oil pan, which like on any American built engine, is intigrated with the motor. go underneith your quad on the bottom of hte motor there should be a bolt with alen head teath. stick your alen head wrench in there and give it a good turn and this bolt will break free. unscrew the bolt with your fingers and the oil should flow. after this has been completed pull that oil filter off and put a new one on (remember to coat the rubber o-ring on the filter with fresh oil so it dosnt stick to the block) put your oil pan bolt back in and torque it down good (remember to check that it is going in straight, the block is aluminum and you could screw up the threading with that bolt) pour 2 quarts of oil down the dipstick tube. start the motor up and let it run for 5 minutes, turn it off check your oil and add if neccisary. and your done. American Engine oil-change 101 (American polaris motors: Liberty 600 Twin, Liberty 700 Twin (Carb/EFI), Liberty 800 Twin EFI |

when I bought it a year ago the dealer was meant to do "a service" but I doubt he did anything as each grease nipple is dry and spark plug was wrong one etc etc so I expect oil is not lookin too nice |

------------------------ makes it easy for me as skid plates rusted and fell off, so I have full access to underside I just have to be careful when riding over crocodiles not to damage anything down there!!! |
