Fan didn't come on...
 

Found my buddy stuck in the mud on my 600... washed it down and sure enough the fan won't come on. Where do I start?

WAS the engine up to operating temp when you tested, ie had sensor actually turned fan on

The pod was flashing and the overflow was spewing....

so gets back to my question in another thread re how the fan is designed to cope if it is OK to have it immersed in water/mud

would seem it would be waterproofed AND capable of being stalled without burning out

if so it may have overload manual reset ??

Dealer says it is likely a ECM... I thought what the.... I guess if there are two thermo sensors maybe one is for the pod and one is for the fan and the fan sensor is not getting wet? If I short the fan wire should it come on?

i dont think so... fans dont last forever maybe u just need a new one

Same happened to me a few times on polarises. When I replace the fan, I hooked it up through a toggle switch. that way I can turn it on or off depending on circumstances. I do not rely on the temp switch to turn it on.

exactly, but put switch in series with t/stat so normally it is auto but in mud etc YOU can isolate it

but that why I was asking re thermal O/L switch [normal practice on electric motors]
