Default Polaris BodyGuard product

All -

(Here I go again starting another.

Has anyone bought and installed the BodyGuard
accessories for their Sportsmans? Does this stuff
really help to protect the body edges from
rips and tears? Is it worth the cost? How has
it helped protect your ATV on the trails?

Thanks,

R'

I'm drawing a blank on Body Armor. It that the Polaris brand protection or aftermarket.

I am referring to the Body Armour protection in
the accessories of Polaris when customizing
your quad (polarisindustries.com), so yea
it would be Polaris brand.

Thanks,

Great stuff, I have sold them on a dozen sportsman and they love them, Especially when going thru tight woods. the trees just hit the armour and slide right off. I highly recommend it.

BodyGuard for all Polaris Sportsmans [2006 400cc-800cc] is a total waste of money$$$. The product does not guard the plastic from damage at all. Okay, maybe from tall grass but who needs that? With the Bodyguard installed on the machine, the sidebars can be moved or bent easily by hand (By bent I mean pushed in to the point it's hitting the plastic). The hardware that comes with the kit rusts in days. Front and rear bumpers are thin and flimsy, nothing like a true bumper (don't tie anything to the Bodyguard bumpers - it will bend!).

If you want a show Quad or you're the type to own something to say "I got one of those" and keep the Quad in a clean dry place - Go for it...

For my money, get a real front and rear bumper. And with the money left over, throw on front and rear A-arm guards or a nice Winch.

Remember - What looks good from a far, is often far from good.

I put the side Body Guards on my 700 last year and transferred them to my 800 when I traded up a couple months ago. I’d say they are well worth the money. The side guards provide excellent protection for the footwells as well as the sides of the machine. When I rolled my 700 last year I’m sure there would have been more damage without them. It landed on its side and no fender plastic was damaged even though the front box and pod were smashed. They have proven to be well made, substantial and a good investment. In addition they provide a little extra protection from mud if you run aftermarket tires and wheels that increase the width of your track.

As far as rusting goes, I coated mine with black truck bed liner because I didn’t want metalflake silver guards on a camo machine. No rust at all. I agree that the Body Guard bumpers and rack extenders seem flimsy and more for show than function but I don’t own them so that’s just a guess.
