the web cam is 216 duration
hot cam is 221

this is in a 700cc sportsman thats getting a 800 motor(760cc)
carbureted and purly for mud.
which one do you think would give more low end for spinning the tires in mud?
im not up on ATV cams but i know the more duration in a car engine, the higher the rom range. didnt know if this rings true with a atv engine.

shorter duration is better lowend and longer duration is better at the highend or more rpms

 

i found the stock duration is .207.
not much of an increase, but prolly worth the hassle while the motor is out of the quad, i dont wanna tear into it again.
the aftermarket cam has 6.0mm of lift, but i cant find anything on the stock lift, just the duration.
im wondering if either of the cams have a higher lift, or just the changed duration?

 

The hotseat cam is pretty awesome i think. It is more for acceleration and speed gain than it is for mud i think. And i would also upgrade to the 800 clutch.

ive got the 800 clutch and a few other mods already.
not to take anything away from hotseat, but i cant see paying 517.00 for a cam when you can get others for 160.

 

I understand. Aaen has a cam too. But i beleive it might be modeled after the web cam.

 

I do not suggest putting a 700 cam in the 800 they are different in stock form and a good designed cam for the 800 will make a world of differance. Hotcams are cheap due to over seas cores ( cheap IMO) we re use stock ones and have to regrind them no easy to do or find somone who can do it right. We don't want to see you put a 700 cam in a 800 motor though either. our 800 cam has .260 lift and 234 duration lift and duration go hand in hand mroe duration more rpm if lift stays close to the same for the most part but there are alot of variables involved as well. Becareful as to what stock cam you are comparing too as well polaris has 2-3 different 600-700 cams out there. Most 6/700 have .2175" lift stock. and hotcams 6.0mm is only .236"

 

i didnt even account that the 700 cam might not be large enough for the bigger displacement.
come to think of it, the price i mentioned was for a 700 cam anyway.
are your 800 cams a different price?
i got a friend wanting a cam for his 800, maybe ill steal his stock cam.

 

600/700 cam kit is 517.00
800 cam kit is 477.00

The 6/700 kit comes with springs, a more gaskets than the 800 kit does that is why they are different.

 

this all rises more questions for me before i make my selection.

im running a 700 cylinder head still.
if i run the 800 cam, will i need springs or the other gaskets mentioned?
i thought the motors were near identical minus the efi. seems strange youd need more parts with the 700 package.
800 springs take more abuse with the agressive cam than the 700 springs do?
