going to add the rad. additive
#1
well after going for a 48 mile ride today w/ hot and muggy temps my wifes 450 2 miles from home overheated. of coruse i pulled the front panel off and it was 2/3rds covered in mud we went thru earlier. it seems funny w/ my other(older) sportsmans i never had an heat isusse at all so the rad must be low enough to wear in catches all the mud. any ways im going to get some raditor releif and give it a whirl. says drops it 30 degrees, we'll see.

What the additives do is they make the water more dense, so it contacts the metal surfaces more at a microscopic level. I don't think they will help with a radiator full of mud-no airflow on the outside, doesn't matter what's going on inside. I also have never had a cooling prolem on my 02, and i go through heavy mud and only hose it off when i get home. Let us know the results. Take care.

I use water wetter in mine and dropped the temp almost 5 degrees. If you run a temp gauge like me you will see it will it helps just a little. It takes the hot spots out of the motor and helps in cooling. If you have a plugged up radiator I don't think its going to help that much. Don't be sad if it don't drop the temp down 30 degrees like it claims.

Hey...Stendori...Just thinking........my wife's 450 plugged up also....Does it have a winch or is the plastic inset still there........My wife's has the plastic still there, mine has the winch......maybe a pattern here.......also did the earlier model you said have the digital display-with the HOT light....when did they start this?????The older ones may not have had such a early warning system in place....OUR 450's may be telling us (HOT) way too SOON!!!!......caper........just a thought....

I think the 2002 are going to catch the same amount of mud as the 450's........But did they tell us all the info we have now with the bikes?????I am shocked they don't tell us when the tires are low........headlight out..........back storage door open........LOL........caper............
