Body Armor is JUNK!
#1
I just got back from my first ride with my new Body Armor kit from Polaris. I must say it does look sweet and the metal tubes are very stable, but the corners and accents are VERY VERY cheap thin plastic. I rode for about 2 or 3 hours and broke of both back ends from getting snagged on branches. They stick out about an inch over the fenders on the back. The front looks even better, but even though i didn't have a problem with it today,i'm sure the plastic will break eventually.
I took the broken pieces back to my local dealer and threw them on the counter with mud all over them and told him if i would have known they were this cheap i would have never bought them. He was extra nice and took care of me and called polaris and had them send me all new plastic and hardware to fix it. I'm not sure i'm going to put the plastic back on, i might fabricate a matching silver end cap for the tubes or connect them together to make it looked more finished. I will post more pictures as i do this.
I have pictures of some of the body armor on my pictures page.

Thanks for the info, slimjonesy. I was thinking of buying them after getting some plastic on the bottom of my left footwell ripped off my Sportsman X2. I noticed it would add about 3 inches of width to my quad so I was hesitant about it to begin with. We have narrow gates on our quad trails to keep out trucks. I ended up riveting on a long strip of 1/8" x 1 1/2" aluminum to make some rock rails so the plastic doesn't take all the stress. I won't be able to test them until next year, though. Our trails close in winter. Thanks, you've made my decision to not buy the Body Armour much easier.

I have the body armor front and rears racks - I havent really put them to the test yet but when I looked at the bumpers I decided to go with the tube bumbers because the body armor bumpers didnt look beefy enough to me to take any abuse. My opinion, the side rails look and the way they mount, they look like they would be uselss.

I got the front bumper, back bumper, front rack extender, and rear rack extender for $420 from my local dealer. The 2 pieces that broke off i am getting replaced for free from Polaris but im not sure im going to put them back on. Beneath the plastic is the thick tubes that are VERY strong. I am going to see if i can fabricate a end cap, or maybe connect them to make them look better and be more useful. Plastic on ANY bumper doesn't make to much sense to me at all. I will be posting more pics later this week.
Thanks for the comments!
Oh yea on ebay there is a ENTIRE kit for like $529. That comes with everything i for plus the side guards. The side guards are ok but i thought it was just to much so i opted not to get them. Also it makes it about 3-4 inches wider.
