H/C causes belt case damage

The Heel Clicker directions clearly state that the new flyweights could rub the belt case cover, so I am not mad, just sharing my experiences and MY cure for the problem. They state "push down" on the cover while tightening the cover bolts. I did this on the 800 and the 700. The clutches still rubbed on both. There is not alot of good that can be done by simply "pushing down" on the cover, while tightening. I sprayed the area with paint to see if the problem still exsisted after a harder "pushing down" It was still rubbing, and by now, the plastic was getting pretty thin in THIS area on the bottom of the case. I took off the clutches and back plate to investigate a better way. I noticed that there was enough flex in the seal between the engine and the back plate to allow me to modify the 5 holes that bolt the plate onto the transmission. By enlarging the 5 holes slightly, then "pushing down" on the back plate while tightening the 5 bolts, I was able to create about 3/8" drop with the front of the cover. This will allow more clearance between the clutches and belt case. Next, I mixed up some 2-part epoxy plastic weld and filled the grooves with the mixture! Once, repaired I put the side back together and hopefully it is fixed. I will be looking for new grooves, next time I take the cover off. With any luck, I will not find any!

why is it you think that the weights are hitting the cover? are the weights that differnt from stock that they extend outside of the clutch it self?

Its the heel of the weights that rub the clutch cover. I have seen many post about this over at atvquadsquad. The heelclicker has a heel on it where stock weights don't. Thats what make the heelclicker work alot better than stock weights.

Most people don't have a problem. And most of the time you can push down the cover and fix the problem. It can happen on any on the sprtsmans.
