WoW I guess I started quite a discussion here. I'm wondering if the auxillary oil cooler Polaris sells for the Hawkeye might not be a bad idea. I know it's $230+ but since the motor is insulated by all the bodywork I can see how it could run hot.

There HAS to be a reason Polaris offers the auxillary cooler as an add on. As I said in another post, the heavily finned cooler around the oil filter just looks to be somewhat of a quick fix after a heat problem was discovered.

Just my .02 worth.

 

The cooler would be a benefit depending on how much oil the cooler holds.

 

Well I'm going to find out. I ordered the cooler today. Should be here within a week.

 

It certainly won't hurt anything. You may find that the oil last longer between changes.
