Default Polaris Sportsman electrical.

A few weeks back, I had to use the Sportsman 600 to jump start the LT80 while out in the field. That went perfect but as I was taking the cables off the LT80, the clamps fell together and sparked/shorted while still attached to the 600.
The 600 will start fine and run fine for awhile, but then occasionally die. It will restart just fine...run great...and later die. It seemed to die more often when it was warmer out but that may have nothing to do with it. Any ideas? Did I hurt the stator or something? What does shorting the battery terminals usually affect on a quad's electrical system? I appreciate any help. Thanks all.

the charging systems are pretty senstive to any imbalance it does seem. check the voltage while running to see whats going into the battery. it should be between 13.5 to like 14.? its been recommened never to jump off your bike while its running as it will do damage to the charging system. i dont know this for a fact, just what ive read and been told.
