I had a 2002 250cc two stroke Xplorer and it was able to pull my 300+ lbs. around without a problem. One thing to watch for is the stator. It is kind of an electrical nerve center on at least some of the Xplorers. My quad would start having troubles with the lights dimming or going out completely and then the quad would start stalling. This only happened once I got it running and it was beyond warmed up. So, take the quad for an extended test drive it you can. Once the stator was fixed it ran great. I called mine the angry chainsaw. Otherwise I loved it until I got an X2 which has a better ride and torque.

I have a 98 Xplorer and love it. I was unsure about the two-stroke engine at first, but it will hang right with the bikes all my friends ride. The only problem that I have had is the shifter siezing up (right in the middle of the trail!). Very good machine in my opinion.
