Default Light Mod Kit Trouble

Hi, just joined...great forum. I just installed an ebay purchased 3 light kit for my '05 sp 400. The lights work (all together) as they should, but the diode gets VERY hot when hi beams are on. Any ideas??

Could be...this guy says he's the original supplier of the mod on ebay, and has sold hundreds.

Lose the diode and wire in a relay. The diode works as a current blocker one way, and allows flow the other and doing so it uses about 0.7 volts in the process. That power loss is the heat you are feeling. And if the diode is poor quality it will burn out in a short time. A relay should last a LOT lonfer and be easier on your headlight switch

Thanks, Scrammy...i noticed you have a mod. Is this what you did? If so, do you have any details on the relay, where to buy, and installation? Thanks!

Got it, thanks. Did you pull your 12v right from the battery?, or could you recommend a point to tap-off. Thanks

I have all my relays under my pod and I tapped right at the cigeratte plug for my power and ground. The green and yellow wires run under the pod from the switch.
