Default 2007 500 X2 Went Swimming

Took my 2007 500 X2 for a swim on the weekend. Long story but she went to the bottom and had to be towed out. Was totaly submerged for about 15 minutes or so. So far with the help of a friend I have drained all the engine oil out of the machine and have cleaned everything I can think of including the gas tank. Have not gotten to the tranny or the diffs yet. I got it to fire once and it ran for about 10 seconds before I shut it down. I wanted to make sure i got the oil pump primed. Now I can not get it fired up anymore. Every so often it seems to build up pressure to the point where it stops cranking for a split second. Any ideas on what is causing this build up of pressure or why I can not get it to fire up again. Much appreciated.....trying to dry out up north.

you sure you got all the water out of everything including the vent lines? did you pull the plug out to see if it had water on it? if it was under water for 15 mins. chances are theres water in everything.

im talking about the vent lines that run up thru the handle bar area. make sure the crank vent isnt plugged up as well as this will build pressure. what about spark, did you see if it was firing?

My boy did the same thing with his magnum, cut the gas off by accident while in the water. We had the same problem, would start but just idle. After we drained the gas line and the carb, also i cant remember the name but the deal where all the belts are needs to be drained and dry. Since you got it to start once check the oil, it may take a few drains to get all the water out. good luck.

Checked the brain box and it did not seem to show any signs of being water logged.
All vent lines are clear.
fresh gas after I removed the tank drained it flushed it and purged all the fuel lines leading up to the carb.
Checked and I have lots of spark.
My friend thinks the timing might be off.
Not sure how to check this.

i dont see how the time would be off, just from going in the drink. have you tried pull starting it when it seems to build this presssure to see if its the engine or the starter? just a thought.

Yes, it actually pulls the cord back right out of my hands. Almost like it seizes up for an instance.

Sounds like hydro-lock. I would drain the oil, remove the spark plug, then gently pull the rope several times to have the cylinders push the water out of the piston.
