you could get some mud and water in there if you have a
HSP High Flow Intake Not suggested for wet or muddy riding, unless you have an outerwear pre-filter. FROM OUTERWEARS "The Outerwears Pre-filter is an excellent solution to prevent water from entering into the engine due to puddles or heavy rainstorms. An Outerwears Pre-Filter is designed to be water repellent and will reduce the risk of water entering through an air intake system. Although our Pre-Filters are proven to be extremely effective in repelling water, please keep in mind they are not water proof. If submerged, your intake can hold or pass water." |
Stock Pre-Filter VS Outerwears Pre-Filter
I get a lot of snow sucked into the airbox via the snorkle and into the CVT when I travel fast on tracks. I bought a prefilter and bulk material from Outerwears. Made my own pre filter for the CVT and put the other over my K & N. No more belt slip on CVT and the water tends to gather in the sump in the air box.

Stock Pre-Filter VS Outerwears Pre-Filter
I bought a pre filter from polaris to see what they are like. Not the quality of Outerwears and it seems to be "one size fits all". Outwears is a tight fit.
If it matters and not scientific, blowing through the two filters, seems to be less restriction with outerwears. |
