Polaris expands ATV recall to include more models

I don't know about Canada but I really don't see why they wouldn't have the same potential issues as here. I would assume they fall under the recall as well.
Once again, if you would like your vin run I would do it for you via PM's. There is personal info involved so if not, that's cool, I understand.
As for the new PDM's or POS's I have replaced them as well, not under warranty or recall, but I have still had failures. Hopefully they don't need another recall.

I am from Newfoundland Canada and own a 2006 450SP. I did not get a recall notice so I phoned the polaris dealer in my town and asked him about the recall. Mine was included so had mine done saturday.

Yes My dealer just told me to disconnect the battery until my wife's quad is done 2006 SP 450 also ....Did you get the new silver type one?.......Or do you know?
We should have got notices in the mail right away.........What about all the other Polaris owners out there that don't have ALL THE INFO WE HAVE RIGHT NOW!!!!!!.............They will just wait for a fire or part failure I guess!!!!....Caper........

Just got off the phone with one of the local Polaris dealers. When I told him my wife's machine is a 2006 Sportsman 500 EFI and I wanted to confirm the VIN as being affected by the recall, he said "That model? Yep, guaranteed it will be on the list. We hardly need to look."
Then he looked, and it's not on the list. He was so surprised he asked for the VIN again, ran it through the system a second time, etc. He was amazed.
I guess we got lucky on the assembly line the day my wife's machine was put together!

I got lucky too ,Polaris did not think of putting a ECM on a ATV in 2001. What advantage do these ECM have when working right anyways?

i think you'll find in the 400,450,500 they started putting in the ecm in 2004.5 yrs. you know besides combining alot of differnt electronics together, i dont see any advantages either lol.

Solid state circuit breakers inside...........WOW.........Now the cost will be over 150.00 instead of a .75 cent fuse to replace!!!!..................LOL....Caper......... ..

Anybody having better luck than me getting your machine repaired?? I called my dealer the same week i received the recall and have called them once or twice a week since. As of last friday they still had not received any of them, nor did do they have any idea when they will get any?? A little frustrating to say the least! Hope everyone else is having better luck.

i read where some dealers had them back ordered for awhile. i would imagine because of the masive recall they didnt plan ahead enough for sure.

I just phoned my two VIN#'s in to the dealer again(dealer that's close to me not the one I bought them from) so I will let you know what they tell me........I am worried about my wife's Quad(yellow one) as it still has the Factory one....Caper......
