1998 Polaris Sportsman 500 EBS - What's it worth ??
Today, I looked at a clean 1998 Polaris Sportsman 500 EBS, only showing about 1,300 miles on what looks like an original speedometer. Nothing obviously broken or recently repaired (as best I can tell), started and runs great with no smoking, all CV boots good, no tears in seat, no broken plastics, almost new mudlite tires, winch, extended rear rack, etc. Asking price is $2,900.
I have looked at more than 25 used ATV's (Yamaha's, Honda's, Kawasaki's) in the last several weeks, and this is one of the better looking 10 yr. old machines I have seen. I checked and NADA retail is about $1,950 and the KBB retail is $2,485. What really is a fair price for this ATV? Also for all of you Polaris guys out there, are there any "known" problems with the 1998 Sportsman 500 EBS machines that I should be aware of, or steer clear of? Thanks in advance |

My 07 has more than 1300 miles! I'd say it should be worth more than bb. It's worth what you're willing to pay. I'd offer $2500 if you really like it. For a $1000 more you can get in the mid 2000 models.

I would show the guy selling what the NADA reprt said and use it as a tool to negotiate a lower price.
I just picked up a 2005 400 for my wife for $3500 with 600 miles, very clean with new ITP rims, tires, winch, heated grips. This thing is cleaner then my 2007 700. |

You could buy a new sp 500 around here last year for $4,999.00. Carb of course. My good friend just paid $3200 for an ultra clean 2001 red sp 500 with winch, tires, and rack extenders with 1500 miles.
