02 500 sprotsman no spark problem

I was out on the weekend and got my machine a bit wet I didn't sink it. when I shut the bike off and went to re start it fuel was coming out drain on its own and it would not run very well so brought it home on the trailer took the carb off cleaned it out tightened the allen head screw on the botom of the float bowl now it has no spark. sometimes there will be a single spark but that is it. I have founed no power suply to the coil with koeo or when cranking not sure where to go from here if anyone has any ideas it would be a great help.

Thanks

The single spark condition usually points to the pulse (trigger) coil - pull the recoil starter housing off and check the air gap first. A lot of times "foreign stuff" gets in there and will hit the pulse (trigger) coil and knock it out of gap. There should be about 0.025" between the pulse coil and the raised metal "trigger spot" on the flywheel. If this is within measurement, then ohm the wires to the pulse (trigger) coil - you should have around 100 ohms on a good pulse (trigger) coil {unless it has been replaced with an aftermarket before, then it may read between 400 - 500 ohms}.

thanks for the advice everything was in spec and I went so far as to put my scope on it to loook at the wave form and it all looked good so that told me I was barking up the wrong tree. Ended up a miss routed throtle cable was triping the throttle switch. thanks for the advice now i will be riding again!

i'd also check and make sure your needle and seat isn't out of ur carburetor, if it is, it'll dump raw gas into the bottom end of ur motor and ur sittin on a moving bomb basically
