HO is actually a bad name for all of my ex girlfriends! Just kidding(am I gonna get kicked out for that?)

With Polaris it stands for high output

HO means high Output
Meaning it has different Camshaft profile and im thinking higher compression
Im not 100 percent sure but im thinking the HO has 10:1 comp vs 9:5:1 for the old 500, I could be wrong but im pretty sure this is the HO difference

HO means "Hats Off". When you ride these beasts its hats off to the
Rider who is smoking his buddies inferior products..LOL..LOL

The High Output has 15-20% more power than the other 500s. The carb is a huge 40mm instead of a 32mm. There are other differences too, but <u>it's all about the power</u>.

get this--I have a female freind that had a 2005 kawasaki prairie 700 its a beast of a machine in its own, it has fantastic Power and rides like a buckboard, I've ridden it alot from time to time and always thought it was a cool machine, After I bought my new 08 500 efi HO I let her ride the new Polaris HO , She comes back with this huge smile on her on her face looking flushed and panting to keep riding the new Polaris, She says She needs to get one of these and get rid of that Kawasaki, Yesterday she calls me from the Polaris dealer and was buying the browning Edition 500 she had this strange giggle going on, i wondered why a person would want to get rid of their 700 kawasaki for a 500 HO, The reason why is the balance of the Sportsman, it doesnt do any one thing great but does everything good, The kawasaki 700 does one thing good and thats Speed/power thats great but it cant keep up with the balance of the Sportsman 500 or the 800, i cant think of another ATV out there that has the balance and looks of the Sportsman.

The Sp 500 H.O. does everything very well except drag race. I did some research and talked to a lot of people about ATVs before I bought my first one in '97. My brother who still has his original Sportsman 400 chain-drive said if he was getting a 4x4 it would be another Sportsman, and if he wanted a 2-wheel drive to race he'd get a Banshee. After I found out more about 4x4s I agreed that it just had to be a Sportsman for me too. That may be the last thing we ever agreed on. The Sportsman 500 is the PERFECT quad for me and my style of riding and work. 3 out of the 4 quads I ever owned were Sp 500s and I've never had any regrets about buying any of them. I just wish people would quit stealing them from me.

the HO (high output) is just a few things on the engine to boost the hp and torque a little. everything should be the same on the bikes.

In my case, HO stands for Heavy Occupant. It's a good thing HO stands for High Output or my quad wouldn't go fast.

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>The Sp 500 H.O. does everything very well except drag race.</end quote></div>

Except for the Can AM 500 twin Outlander Utility ATV the H.O is quicker than most all 500 class Utility as well. So it can actually do the drag race thing well .

500 Utility comparison

Bottom line

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Yep, we saved the best for last. Polaris knows what 4x4 ATVers like and its Sportsman 500 delivers. The Sportsman is excellent for sport riding, rock crawling and working. It has large racks, the best suspension action, the most storage room and it's the fastest. Moreover, it's just plain fun. </end quote></div>
