Replacing clutch covers
#1
I am replacing my clutch covers, inner&outer on 99 500 magnum w/ebs and was wondering what the center to center & off set was. When I bought the machine the outer cover was rubbing the clutch and melted/warped because 2 of the ears on the inner cover are broken so I figured while replacing them I should check the specs. Thanks

center to center of clutches 10" If off ,can adjust front motor mount to compensate. You have to have the ebs alignment tool to check offset, but can possibly do with out it. Make sure belt centered close as possible on front clutch and no creeping in gear! Older clutch covers warped from heat and our replacement ones have been improved (supposedly) Also replace backing plate if it appears warped too, can cause new cover to do same thing! Check seal behind drive clutch for tears/rips,good idea to replace if doing all that work! Good luck! P.S. can add/remove shims behind driven clutch if creeps or to help align, recheck center to center!

OPT - THANK-YOU, I just finished the job, I know on my sleds its real important so I was worried about the atv's cen.-cen. & offset - took me 2.5 hr. by time I was done, I did have to change out backing plate seal, it was torn I hope its OK that I used a skim layer of silicone sealant (blue pliable) when sandwiching the seal onto backing plate. Center to center was off .25" and the offset was off just a tad also, I centered it as best as possible and I guess I did good because there is no squealing or creeping and after putting on the new belt the machine goes real good. *****THANKS again its a comfort having a real tech. answering questions.
