Still no Spark
#1
1998 Sportman 500 running one day not the next. No sprk to the plug. Started all the test seemed to narrow it down to the stator. New one was installed and everything put together. Still now no spark! I looked it over a couple times now everything looks good and plugged into the right spots i think. So anyone know whats the next spot to look. Or other test to do?? Thanks.

disconnect black wire from cdi, which is kill switch,if then has fire possible cdi or control switch short. check all brown(ground wires),make sure plug wire not cut or shorting, check plug wire with plug boot on and with out to see if cap bad. Stator is usually what I have the most problem with in older 500's,but recheck all connections.

you probably already checked it but the throttle kill switch or whatever you call it on the right handlebar under the cap maybe malfunctioning, the gap should be open to work and closed to kill the quad. also when you installed the new stator did you adjust the "air gap" between the pulse coil and the magnet on the flywheel? it is supposed to be really tight, almost touching. I have the exact measurement somewhere but if you just adjust it or "persuade" it somehow to nearly touch the magnet when it comes around you should be in good shape.
good luck
