Default outlaw 500irs or outlaw525irs?

i just went to the dealer today, with my mind set on the 525irs. the mechanic overheard us talking and said that he has a 500 that he lilkes better than the 525. he said that he gets a lot of 525's in with engine problems, he said the 500 isnt that much slower than the 525. and i dont really know, i want a really fast reliable quad( outlaw only). please help.

I've got about 800 miles on my 525 with 0 problems.Just get the valves adjusted at the maintanance intervals in the manual. The 525 has 12 more horsepower than the 500.I find it odd to hear of alot of engine troubles with a KTM.

Is the mechanic trying to sell a 500? LOL! I haven't heard of any problems with the 525 either and 12 more HP's is big!

Funny thing read a few reviews on the KTM 525 motorcycle and see what comes up durable reliable best endure motor ever! No problems with mine BUT after visiting a few KTM sites they recommend strict following of maintenance guidelines!

From what I've heard and read the only thing you have to keep an eye on with the KTM (that you don't have to watch as closely on the Polaris 500) is the valve adjustments as plumbob said.

I bought a service manual from the dealer for around $45 (PN 9921126).It tells you to how to check, adjust, and service everything on the quad.Very well worth the money.

I'll 2nd that, EVERY vehicle, atv, motorcycle - anything with a motor that I own I buy the service manual. its so nice to have all the spec's, service recommendations, trouble shooting routines on hand when questions pop up. IMO the manual is just as important as having the toy if you do your own tinkering.
