Overheating & won't go into Park
I recently repaired a CV Boot and exhaust leak with the help of this site...Thanks to all of you.
I now am overheating. I cleaned the radiator exterior and have narrowed down that it is not my fan. I unplugged the temp-sending unit and it runs fine. Do I have to replace this part (temp sending unit)? If so, once I unplug the connector from the block do I have to follow & remove the wires? I also cannot get my machine to go into park and the rear brake doesn't work. It shifts fine throughout all the other gears and yes, I have to step on the foot brake to go into high - it doesnt work for park. Any Suggestions? Jeff |
Overheating & won't go into Park
Sending unit screwed into bottom of radiator, just unscrew, replace, plug in,check/bleed air in radiator, fan should cycle on and off with NO hot light. Check that detent spring on foot back has not come loose and that spring is pulling detent lever in trans. NORMALLY locks out HI and Park, unless foot brake is pushed, may have spring stretch/or need replacement.Common for rear brakes to get mushy or no brakes at all. Just bleed at rear caliper, keep small brake resevoir filled with fluid while pumping up and bleeding, sometimes small rear brake caliper leaking air and needs replacement. Good luck PS later models did away with trans detent, didnt like to begin with, just check spring. MEANT TO SAY rear brake MASTER CYLINDER could be leaking air, NOT CALIPER ! SORRY opt
