Upgrade 2007 500 X2?
I have a 2007 500EFI X2 with less than 500 miles on it. I love this machine but for out west elk hunting with two riders I would like more power. I would like the 800 X2 but is it worth it? How much would my 500 be worth? My dealer says he would give me $5000. Where is the best place to sell it? I live in northern Illinois and we have an trader magazine for selling atvs etc... Anybody have any suggestions on this? Thanks for the help.
By the way I'm affraid to tell my wife since I just bought the 500 last August and I told her that is all the machine I would ever need. I've got to learn to stop saying that.

Why do you need more power? I have a 08 500 x2 and it seems to have plenty of power to do whatever I would want it to do. Are you planing on pulling an Elk back to camp or something? I thought that most people quarter Elk and take the quarters back to the camp? Not trying to be critical but trying to understand your need for more power.
As far as selling it, it just depends on how much extra work you want to put into selling it compared to what the dealer is offering. Around where I live, a house up the road has a 07 700 sportsman for sale for 5500 and it's been sitting there for a few weeks already. I have no idea how many miles but the 5000 for the machine should be in the ball park for the ride.
When new ones are going for 7200 ish + TTL, I'd have a hard time not just spending the extra money and going for a new one myself. I'd say just trade up with the dealer if you want bigger and save your self the hassles.
If you want to try and get more out of the machine, try your local "shopper" type papers, e-bay, ect.

high five colt on the whats wrong with the power of a 500.hey mogen david 80,why don't you just spend 2-3 hundred dollars on a performance primary clutch spring+ jet kit so your engine goes up another thousand rpm's into the power band of the engine+flow alittle more fuel richer+flow some more air with a uni-filter and you will have more power than you can imagine+stay good with the wifey.

Well you both are right. The 500 is enought power but why not more. In the boating world they call it twofootitis. Maybe we should cal it 100ccitis! I think I have talked myself into wanting more than needing more power! I saw someone on one of these boards who had a 2009 850 X2 EPS on order? What is the EPS? Guess if they build it we will buy it huh?
By the way clever MECHANIKE on the mogen david 80 but thats not it. It stands for McDonnell Douglas 80. Thanks for replys!!

Upgrade 2007 500 X2?
Guess maybe I'm old school but I can't see talking about EPS on my wheeler with people. I know it would be nice in tight situations but I figure old shcool steering keeps the guns buff ya know!! Seriously, I not trying to be disrespectful to anybody but I would rather sacrifice a little comfort for a gain in wieght savings and fewer ($$) mechanical issues. Any thoughts?
