Default 2007 polaris 800 x2 belt clutch Issues/ video included

My quad revs really high before moving...and sometimes it works normal...Quad will barley climb a hill. I took the housing off so i could see the belt. The belt looks good but i don't really know what to look for any help out there?

Yesterday we were ridding and i went into a deep water hole and then this problem started. All the water is now drained from the belt housing which didn't seem to be much.

More than likely the belt may have stretched or burned if you were pushing lots of water, so start there. If you have new belt, slip it on and try it. If you don't have a new belt, get one and carry it in the front cargo box along with the tools needed to change it. You never know when you might need one on a trail.
If it still doesn't engage properly (assuming it has the proper amount of deflection), it is almost certainly either the primary or secondary clutching. If you are familiar with how they work, it could be fairly easy to visually diagnose. If you are not familiar, perform a search on this site or on the web and learn about them, they are a major key to Polaris performance.
That's a great bike and should give you years of solid performance with the proper preventative maintenance.

well i only watched part of the video as it was taking way too long to down load.anyways the clutches looks like they were working correctly so that leads me to beleave that the belt is the issue. look for shinny sides on the belt from glazing(belt got hot) or small grooved out places(burned spots). alos when water gets into the housing its more of the silt(small dirt) that causes the issues w/ slipping so make sure while its apart to clean the clutches good and wipe off the belt. make sure you can read the words on the belt when you put it back on. chances are the belt is going to have to be replaced. imo.

Could be a weight bushing problem putting the primary in a bind causing the back the shift out early, then when the bind is overcome it tries to go back to normal and wont

I am not a expert, but just giving you some ideas. It doesn't take much water to cause a belt to slip. This may have cause it to be o.k. normally but slip wen under more load going up the hill. If you have ruled out the transmission/drive train I would make sure the belt/housing are dry and try it again. Trying a new belt will not hurt anything either. Good luck

Did you try the new belt? Try cleaning the inside edges of the clutch with a light solvent like alcohol or acetone before putting the new belt on. By chance is there any mud or grit inside the inner workings of the clutch?

once the belt is heat glazed, it will contiune to slip unless you replace the belt or maybe you can lighty scuff or sand the belt edges to remove the glaze. if it has burn spots then replacing is the only fix. imo.
