I've whacked mine pretty good a few times and can't believe I haven't broken them yet. When I do, and I know I will, I plan to fabricate some nerf bars. I really don't like how flexible the footwells are anyway and I've heard of a lot of people here breaking them. Hopefully by the time I break them someone here will have done the figuring out for me and I can just copy their design! If not, I will figure it out and share it with all!

Not saying I dont like polaris. (look at my name) But it seemed like can-am knew how to fix this. They have 2 metal bars right under the footwells on their 400 XT. My aunt bought one and we spent a couple hours hitting things thinking the plastic was going to break at any moment. Looked later and realized there was metal and we hadn't even scratched it.

Try this link to some nerf bars that I bought last week. They have a couple of decent pictures.
I'll let you know when they show up and I get them mounted.
I seam to be breaking the footwells when I get the fenders hung up on a stump or something. The fenders are bullet proof, the black footwells suck.
I'm not sure if these nerf bars are going to help or not.

Those are kinda slick! It sure looks like they should offer some good protection.
I may have to get me some of those. The price is reasonable too!

i purchased a set of nerf bars/stump guards 3 years ago and they are all bent to hell and my foot wells are still intact..great 40.00 investment for the price they get for the plastic foot well( you would think they are gold)

Onesavage,
Did you buy the same set as the ones I linked?
I installed two new(used) footwells and a set of those nerf bars this morning.
They are heavier then I thought and bolt to the frame in a decent location. I can stand on them and they seam to be fine. I think they are definately going to help with my stump issues.
They look pretty good too. I'll get some pictures and post tomarrow.
Can someone give me a refresher on how to post pictures in the text of the post.
