My soon to be father-in-law has a 1987 Polaris TrailBoss 250 4x4. He took it apart 2 or 3 years ago. He asked me if I knew anything about them today. We took a look at it it is getting no spark to the plug from what I can tell there is 12 volts going into unit before the coil (not sure what that is). The machine is in pieces but enough together to try and start it. Have to use rope to start, the starter just spins, when you use the botton. Some of the wires are not connected wiring diagram would help if one is available, any help would be greatly apreciated. I am use to working on lifted 4x4 Trucks not these things....

you need four things for a motor run fuel air compression spark. you know that you have the spark. what about the other three?

Does anyone know where I could find a service / maintenance manual for this machine? also where would I look on the machine to find it's vin number / serial number or other markings as to what it actually is... all I have to go by is the fender stickers...

for the vin number either look on the bottom left hand side of the frame. if your sitting on it it would be about where your toes are on your left foot. or it is on the right side of the frame about where the shifter is mounted to the frame. there is supposed to be a sticker on the hood piece but it disappeares after a while.
for the manual look on ebay.
