Aftermarket CV JOINT....any experiences? here's mine
I just got a CV joint from American CV for $90 vs. the 220 the dealer wants.
The only thing I am questioning is this: If you stand this CV up, big end (bearings) down, right next to the OEM piece, you will notice a slight difference. about 2-3" down the shaft(starting at the top) the aftermarket CV tapers in about 5mm or so....whereas the OEM CV does not. Looking at the OEM 'wear pattern' on this shaft, it looks like the bearings could be touching right over this 'taper'. This CV guy has great feedback everywhere I go...so I can only hope it's an intentional design? Any ideas, experiences with this or other aftermarket CV places? |

I have one from CVMAN off ebay and it is excellent other than I had to use a factory clamp because Ithe one on it was too close.

Yeah, we bought an entire aftermarket rear axle assy for our 400 Sportsman on eBay for $165. it seems to be of high quality, and the fit was excelent. It is still in service after 8 months of severe duty, so far-so good.
Just about to put another on the 700 as it sure seemed an easier repair than replacing just the CV, 45 minutes and didn't even get my hands dirty. |
