I don't want to start a big bashing contest but I am curious whether there is somewhat of a consensus as to which ATV is the most reliable. This does not mean it is the best, fastest, smoothest riding, best in the mud, etc. Rather, which manufacturer and model has the repution for being the dependable workhorse of the ATV world. I am a little new to the ATV world so I personally don't know.

tealboy,

I am a Polaris man myself, but if you want the company with the reputation of the most reliable quad, I would have to say Honda probably wins. However, keep in mind, a lot of the reliability of the machine, depends on how often and how well the routine maitenance is performed.

Yeah, I do agree with you on that one 3TV. We had a used '95 Grand Cherokee Limited last year. The transmission sounded like had to rev to high before it shifted. The windsheild wipper motors often frequently died. The power window switch on driver door to control the front right door often would not work also. However, I can't say that all of this is the jeep's fault though, because the dealer we leased the from in my opinion is not a very competent one. It also took the dealership over 6 hours to install a toneau cover on our truck. My uncle just got the same type of toneau cover installed on his truck. He sad that it took his dealership about 1hour and a half to install.

I would say if an opinion pole were taken *Honda* would be named the most reliable brand by ATV owners.

I would also suspect if you were being specific as in model the 300cc utilty Honda's would get the most votes .

Well, I would have to say Honda too, BUT I must add this: If you use the same thing year after year, decade after decade and never change anything, things will become more reliable. Even on the Rubicon I don't see a whole lot of innovation beyond the hydrostatic transmission. So yeah, If you use the tried and true "old school" technology and never try anything new, there is A LOT less room for troubles or failure.

Most reliable ATV: my 99 Polaris Sport. I've yet to have my first problem of any kind.

Since we're talking trucks as well, anything but Ford. Around here it means Fixed Old Rebuilt Dodge.
