Default Sportsman 800 Brake troubles

I just found out today that the brake light is always on and it smells like brake pads are getting hot when driving on my property. Also noticed there are no foot rear brakes. Is there a relationship? and how do I go about fixing?
Thanks
Steve

Default Sportsman 800 Brake troubles

first thin i would do is jack up the bike and spin the tires to see which brake seems to be sticking. my guess there is an issue w/ the front brakes as i dont think the brake light comes on using the rear brakes but cant remember for sure. alot of times the rear fot brake will loose its prime and have to be bleed or i used to lay a weight on the foot pedal over night to give back some pressure and it worked some. find where the brakes are dragging first and check for a bad brake cyclinder. imo.
