97 500 XPLORER REAR BRAKE ROTOR REMOVAL
I need to know how to remove the rear output shaft brake rotor on a 1997 500 Xplorer. I have the caliper off and I was needing to know do I need a wheel puller to remove it. If someone could tell me how to do it, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance for your time.

After removal of the 3 bolts, the center hub comes out(may be rusty, frozen). Its a tapered fit and may have to use a small puller, then the floating hub and disc come off together. IF your just replacing pads,I would just leave alone, unless replacing rotor because of warping, damage, etc.

Not uncommon for early 97 rear brake "floating pins" that secure rotor to hub to break or come loose. Replacement pins have been up dated to stronger bolts. You may have enough clearance to replace bolts without removing hub assembly? Been a long time since I've had a problem on any! OR hub may have to be removed along with rotor. If replacing bolts remember to loctite(red or blue) into hub. Good luck
