Default Liquid Cooled Fan Motor 1991 trailboss 350l

Hey everyone, I am new here and look forward to all of your knowlede. Have have a 1991 trailboss and the fan motor is not working. I see there is a hose that comes off the motor, but is not connected to anything. Does this hose suppose to connect to something. I see it is a liquid cooled motor, and even bought a Hayens manual to help me, but cannnot find anything on the hose. Thanks for any help I can get. Bob

Jump two wires at radiator sensor at top of radiator with key on,fan should come on,if not then could possibly be bad. Replacement motors wont have vent tube, this was the cause of a lot of em going out because of water ingestion. If fan comes on when jumping two wires,BUT doesn't come on when gets hot, could be bad radiator sensor.

I have the plastic off that holds the headlamp and really still cannot get to the wires. What is the easiest way to get to them, should I remove the oil tank? Bob

"little trap door" at front of machine opens up to radiator cap and sensor just behind! Not sure if this sensor has two wires that disconnect or is solid. If solid, follow where red wire ties in under by fan,you can try a jumper or battery charger to apply voltage to red wire going to fan and ground lead to brown lead out of fan. If doesnt work, then fan most likely bad.

OK, looks like the motor is fine, now the question is, Do I need to replace the switch, or can I just bypass it and have the motor run when the key gets turned on. I saw that the switch is over $100.00 and I still do not know if that is the real problem. Is there a fuse to check, I cannot find one? Where is the best place to buy a switch. I found the price off of bike bandit. Thanks,Bob

Only fuse is a sealed thermal fuse that resets (in a plastic pouch near the battery) on the old 91,later models had 2 ,one upfront under front panel. Some have wired in a toggle switch for fan,but eventually will shorten life of fan motor! Up to you on how much you want to tie up on a 18 year old machine? Other posters may know of aftermarket sensors and such that will work! Good luck
