Thanks Rick. I tried that. I can adjust it for a real fast idle and it will slowly lose rpms and die. I read something about that switch. EPC cutout switch.

 

Check your airbox for 'critters', I'd remove the filter and stick a vacuum with a crevice tool down the intake, could be stopped up. Check air intake plastic for cracks or leaks, seal up with Gorilla Duct tape. And definitely replace the spark plug, yours could be fouled, since popo's run rich. Replace with NGK, best plug for popo's. Blow spark plug area with compressed air to keep junk out of cylinder before removing plug.

Checked the airbox per manual. Looks new. Even took it off to see what would happen. The same. HOW DO I GET AT THE SPARK PLUG???? This thing starts right-up over & over. But you can watch the rpms decrease until it DIES. Maybe the popping is from giveing it the gas to quickly. At least that's what the manual says.
I'd really like to look at the plug BUT I'M NOT TAKING THE WHOLE ATV APART.

I used to see similar problems on the 07 500 efi's due to broken wires at the MAP sensor connector in the air intake. Try wiggling the three wires (one at a time) going into the MAP sensor and see if it changes the way it runs. The wires used to break right where they enter the connector due to vibration and would cause erratic idle. I've been away from Polaris for a while, so maybe that problem is fixed now, but it sounds pretty familiar... Good luck.

 

Buy a carb model way to many problems with Polaris EFI IMO my carb been flawless in 3000 miles .

 

I understand your frustration, but why dont you just bite the bullet and bring it in to the dealer. It would probably be fixed by now. Instead of pulling your hair out and turning on your country!

Ok, I would bet I know the problem. I had pretty much the EXACT same problem with my 08 800. We tried everything we could think of to try and finally gave up and took it to the local shop. Just got it back Tuesday. The guy said it took him like 2 hours to trace the problem. It is the wire harness for the Barometric (I think) Pressure Sensor. Polaris knows about the problem. The factory wires are to short and they get pulled and break off. There is a pigtail wire harness available to fix the problem for like 40 or 50 bucks. It cost me $110 to get it fixed with labor included. Running great again now. I really hope this helps. I was so frustrated with this problem, I know exactly how you are feeling.
