86 trailboss 250 traded for a not running isuzu trooper.
hi guys i'm new here and i just got my hands on a 86 polaris trailboss 250 2wd. i traded it for an 89 isuzu trooper with a blown motor. the bike runs good and looks to be well taken care of. i'm wondering if there is anything i can do to improve the power on it. the engine is 3 months old, and it was bored .030 over.
thanks for any help i get.

i know it ain't much of a bike but at least i don't have to change the motor in the trooper now. lol. the trailboss will only be used once in a while for some fun riding and to take my kids out to ride. not too much else. this is the bike here. it's in not too bad of shape. by the way what is the button for on the left side of the handlebars?

ok now i'm not sure what happened. i made a rookie mistake and got it started, drove it onto the trailer, strapped it down, and drove out to the trails. but i forgot to turn off the gas. now it won't start. i pulled the plug cleaned it almost broke my arm pulling the cord to try to clear out all the gas. but it still won't start. what am i doing wrong? it has spark, but there is gas coming out the bottom of the recoil. i can smell gas in the tailpipe.

sounds like your float is stuck wide open and gas is pouring right into the engine. your going to have to drain the gas out of everywhere and most likely clean the carb or maybe replace the needle in the float bowl. sounds like its just extemly flooded and still is even after cleaning the plug may need a new plug as well. i know sometimes in a pinch that i have used starting fluid to help satrt a flooded engine as it usually will fire on either real easy. i have a feeling yours is going to have abig back fire w/ all the gas thats in there. imo

I am not sure its stuck open, When you trailerd it to the trail, It sloshed around and probally overfilled the float bowl allowing fuel into the cylinder. I would clean the plug, Spray a tad of oil in the cylinder ( for lubricant) and try to fire it up, And be sure to drain all the excess fuel as stated above..
