Default Scrambler 400 I'm interested in

Hi to All! I have a couple questions. I am looking at a Scrambler 400 4x4 auto. The guy wants 1500 for it. Only thing, it looks like hell.....really rusty, but no rot. I needs two tires in the rear, some paint, and some more paint LOL. It's stored outside. Despite that, the guy fired it up right from cold and blasted though his front yard. What do you think I should offer? I didnt ask to ride cause I haven't ridden in more than 20 years. I am wondering what I should be looking for as far as problem areas.

Don't let the hp numbers fool you. Its all in how you get it to the ground. Clutching clutching clutching!

Check counter balance oil, swing arm bushings, steering for play and take a compression reading(110 psi +) Find out if it has ever had a topend and if not it WILL need the stock piston changed out with a Wiesco before it blows.Dont give anywhere near $1500 for one in rough shape.
