sealed bearings vs open on solid axle?

I am rebuilding my 1993 350l polaris 4x4.

I currently have the front and center carriers out and the rear housing apart.

I am going to put in new bearings and seals.

The bearings are, currently, sealed on one side to allow greasing from a zerk.

What would you think about replacing the bearing with a bearing that is completely sealed?

I would think that would be better since it would not require maintenance. But why would'nt polaris do that in the first place...

Lets hear what you think. Thanks

if the sealed bearing couldnt ever get and water in them and wash out the grease. the greaseable bearings would be better if you remember to grease them often after going thur water/mud to help push out the bad grease. i think doing this they would be better. imo

there is a problem with what they call "sealed bearings" those seals come out very easily with a small screwdriver to pry them out. those are really only dust seals. water and other free flowing contaminates still get inside the bearings a greasable bearings is much better for this application that way if anything does get inside of them, a good greasing will push it out

thats a good point. I think I'll stick to the stock application.

Thanks
