Default 96 Xpress 300 Starter trouble

Started off thinking the solenoid was bad, press the start button and the solenoid would click, nothing else. Now, replaced that and now it does nothing, dont even have my green light now for "Neutral". Ive checked battery and have 12 volts. I have 12 volts to the solenoid, but nothing across. When I pull start it all the lights come on again as normal. Im at a loss for what to do next. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if this helps but i noticed this past weekend when i removed the starter from my scrambler the neutral light, headlights, etc no longer worked. I didn't try to pull start it though. This leads me to think the the ground wire going to the starter needs to be attached. In other words, i'd check the ground going to your starter, because it seems to be vital to other components.

UPDATE: Tried as "Elusive" said and ground wire is tight on starter. Did find inline fuse not connected that now my neutral light works, but didnt help with the electric start so Im still stumped on it. Any other ideas I can try?????

you said you had 12 volts when tested. did you test it w/ a volt meter or a test light. did you try and test it when you you were putting the power to the starter button? just make sure the battery is 100% fully charged and then make sure the connections are good and not corroded. w/ the key switch on you could jump the 2 big cables on the solenoide to check to see if it cranks over and if not then as mentioned the starter is most likely the issue. imo

Put 12 volts to the starter hot terminal directly, this will tell you what you need to know.
