if the ignition is not properly wired, or not hooked up at all, it will start with the pull start... i believe the brown and black wires are switched when the ignition is in the off position but i will take a picture of the wire schematic in my manual and post it for you.
I lost the key for mine so i have the ignition on a switch. i never bothered to hook the black and brown wires up so it still will start if the switch is off with the pull start, just no lights or anything will work. its been a while since i did it but the ignition wires them selves just plug right into the board on the upper left hand side near the gas tank.

ok so i finally found my manual and i was right surprizingly lol...
red and red white are connected with ignition on
brown and black are connected with ignition off (also connected when kill switch is off)
Those 4 wires go down to the junction box on the left side of the machine.
